Getting started
Install & help
Church Floorplan 1.0 is available as a free desktop app. The current in-app update is 1.0.4. Download installers are version 0.9.0 for Mac and 0.2.1 for Windows, then update inside the app. Start with a copy of your files while you try your workflow.
Mac downloads are signed by Calvary Chapel Chattanooga, Inc and notarized by Apple. The Windows preview is unsigned and has not yet been tested on a Windows computer; see its installation steps below.
The desktop workspace
Version 1.0 makes the new interface available to everyone. No beta code is required. Existing theme and dashboard preferences stay on this device.
- Dashboard: choose Customize to select shortcuts and arrange cards.
- Sidebar: choose Customize sidebar to hide tools or change their order. Dashboard and Settings always stay available. Use Reset to restore the default layout.
- Tool menus: use the arrow beside Design, Convert, Scheduler, or Worship to expand its sections without opening the tool first.
- Design: open Thumbnails, Social Media, Design Guide, Overlays, or Stage Layout directly from the sidebar.
- Settings: manage your profile, appearance, connections, lighting, and updates. Set up local transcription tools from Clipper.
Church Floorplan on iPhone and iPad
Version 1.0 is being prepared for App Store review. Existing testers can update through TestFlight. The same app supports iPhone and iPad running iOS or iPadOS 17 or later.
- Home: select a day in the week strip to see events from connected calendars. Your sticky note saves on this device until you remove it.
- Template: create a thumbnail, cutout, logo overlay, or stage layout. Pick a visual style, edit your design, and export to Photos or Files. Stage Layout opens a large canvas; tap to add a position and drag to move it.
- Calendar: open Connections to add Planning Center, Trello, a calendar subscription, or calendars from your device. Choose which calendars and plans appear. Full Plan and Song View use a local cache; pull to refresh when you need the latest changes. Hidden items affect only your mobile view.
- Practice: open Tools → Practice and choose a Planning Center plan. Select charts and tracks your account can access, or import files. Swipe left or right between songs; when zoomed in, gestures move the chart so you can keep reading. Use Files to choose a different chart or track.
- Tuner: open Tools → Tuner, allow microphone access, and play one sustained note. The needle glows as you approach the target pitch. Use Reference to change A4, and Pause to stop microphone use. Audio stays on the device.
- Lights: connect to the church network and pair with your compatible grandMA3 console. Import the desktop setup or enter its connection details in Lights settings. A console and its bridge must be running for live controls.
Move a project between desktop and mobile
Use Share Project to export a .cfpproject file, then open or import that file in the other app. Transfer selected projects when you need them; this is not automatic cloud synchronization.
If a preview or connection does not work
Update to the latest available app build first. For a thumbnail, reopen the project and try a different style. For connected calendars or Practice files, confirm your provider account has access and refresh the plan. Microphone, Photos, calendar, and Local Network permissions can be changed in device Settings. Disconnect an account before signing in with a different one.
Get help
Email chandlerprisk@gmail.com with your device model, app version, and what you expected to happen. A screenshot can help; hide personal or church information first. Do not send passwords, tokens, or console pairing keys. Read the mobile privacy policy.
Install on a Mac
Requires macOS 13 Ventura or later, on an Apple Silicon or Intel Mac.
- Open Apple menu → About This Mac. If it says “Chip,” choose the Apple Silicon download. If it says “Processor” and names Intel, choose the Intel download.
- Download the matching installer from the homepage. Open the DMG and drag Church Floorplan into Applications.
- Open Church Floorplan from Applications. If macOS asks you to confirm opening an app downloaded from the internet, choose Open.
Version 0.9.0 includes Apple notarization for both the app and installer. If you already use an older Mac version, quit Church Floorplan when you are ready and replace it in Applications with this download. This one-time replacement adds Apple signing to the desktop app; an in-app content update cannot add it. Your working files and account connections are stored separately. Apple’s guide to opening apps safely explains these prompts.
Local video tools
Design and Cutout work without video tools. For Clipper, use the setup controls on the Clipper page to install FFmpeg and Whisper, then download the speech model. Mac setup uses Homebrew and may ask for your Mac password to install prerequisites.
Install on Windows
Requires Windows 10 or Windows 11 on a 64-bit x64 PC.
- Choose the Windows 64-bit preview on the homepage.
- Run the downloaded EXE and follow the installer. It installs for your Windows user; keep the default folder unless you need another location.
- Windows may show “Windows protected your PC” because the preview is unsigned. If you trust this download, use More info → Run anyway. Follow your organization’s computer policies if that option is unavailable.
- Open Church Floorplan from the Start menu.
This build targets x64 Windows PCs. A native Windows ARM build is not available. The installer and bundled files have been checked on the build computer, but a complete Windows installation and media workflow still need real Windows testing.
Transcription and video setup
Install Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable (x64) for Whisper. Then use Set up Clipper on the Clipper page and download the speech model. FFmpeg and Whisper are downloaded directly from their publishers and verified against pinned checksums. Installing Microsoft’s runtime may require administrator permission.
HEIC conversion is built into the Windows preview. Apple Vision face tracking is available on Mac only; Windows uses motion-based framing.
Automatic system-font listing and the “Show in Finder” shortcut are Mac-only conveniences. On Windows, import your own font files in Design and open exported files with File Explorer.
Connect your accounts
Open Settings → Profile and choose Planning Center. Sign in on Planning Center’s page and approve the requested access. Your existing Planning Center role controls which church data you can access. You do not need to register API keys.
Connect Trello separately, approve read access, and choose your boards. You can disconnect either provider in the app. The local creation tools can be used without connecting accounts.
Update from inside the app
Open Settings → Updates, or File → Check for Updates. When a content update is available, choose the update button and restart Church Floorplan when prompted. The app checks its own Church Floorplan feed and verifies the download before applying it.
To update from a downloaded file, download the Church Floorplan 1.0.4 update (.cfp). Open Settings → Updates → Update from a file, select the downloaded file, and restart when prompted. Install Church Floorplan first if it is not already on your computer.
Some releases may require a new desktop installer. In that case, download the latest matching version from this site and replace the app. Your working files are stored separately from the application. Church Floorplan updates do not update the original Floorplan app.
Feature availability
- The shared church service, Training, and automatic digest emails are not enabled yet.
- Planning Center and Trello still need broader testing across churches and permission levels. Check service plans before relying on them in production.
- Adobe Font extraction and YouTube downloading are not included.
- Mac installers are Apple notarized. Windows installers are not Authenticode signed.
- The Intel Mac build is packaged for x64; hardware-specific behavior should be checked on your own machine.
